Anxiety Remains in Lentils

PANAMA - Jul 30/17 - SNS -- International lentil markets were little changed during the past week, with hot and dry conditions continuing to create anxiety among processors and exporters.

Forecasts for the coming week in Saskatchewan call for continued hot and dry conditions. This will help crops mature more rapidly, but will limit potential yields. On the other hand, quality should be significantly better than last year, though there is a risk of sun burning.

As is the case with field peas, harvest activity is underway in both the United States and Canada.
