Oat Output Sinks 17%

WASHINGTON - Jul 12/17 - SNS -- U.S. oats production is forecast at 53.7 million bushels, down 17% from 2016, according to the latest USDA crop forecast.

Growers expect to harvest 880,000 acres for grain or seed, unchanged from the Acreage report released on June 30, 2017, but down 10% from last year. Based on conditions as of July 1, the average yield for the United States is forecast at 61.0 bushels per acre, down 5 bushels from 2016.
