U.S. Durum Seedings Plunge

WASHINGTON - Jun 30/17 - SNS -- Area seeded to Durum wheat is estimated at 1.92 million acres, down 20% from 2016, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2017.

Planted area in North Dakota, the largest Durum wheat-producing State, is estimated at 1.12 million acres, a decrease of 23% from last year. Area harvested for grain is expected to total 1.86 million acres, 21% below 2016. As of June 25, the crop was 22% headed in North Dakota, 21 percentage points behind last year.
