Second Smallest U.S. Oat Crop

WASHINGTON - Jun 30/17 - SNS -- Area seeded to oats for the 2017 crop year is estimated at 2.54 million acres, down 10% from 2016, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2017.

This represents the second lowest planted area on record for the United States. Record low planted acreage is estimated in Alabama, California, Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Area for harvest, forecast at 880,000 acres, is down 10% from 2016.
