WASHINGTON - Jun 30/17 - SNS -- Farmers in the United Ststes planted a record 1.02 million acres of lentils this year, up 9% from 2016, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2017.
Area forecasted to be harvested, at 986,000 acres, is also up 9% from the 2016 season. Compared with last year, area planted is up in Montana but down in Idaho, North Dakota, and Washington. Montana's planted area is up 19% from 2016, and is a record high.
