Prices Volatility Rises in Beans

PANAMA - Jun 4/17 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets have become increasingly volatile on account of weather conditions in both Argentina and Brazil, suggesting weather concerns could last through the completion of harvest in North America and China.

Improvements in the weather reduced worries about further damage to crops in both Brazil and Argentina. This prompted sellers to become more aggressive at a time when several religious observances will limit short term trading interest in several countries.

This was reflected in the U.S. spot index for beans which slipped 0.3 points on the week to 139.2. Other pulse markets were generally easier. The Canadian pulse price index lost 2.4 points to finish at 181.9, while the world pulse price index dropped 3.2 points to close the week at 180.2.
