Mixed Sentiment in Birdseeds

PANAMA - May 28/17 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading unchanged to easier against mixed signals from outside markets.

Worries about wet weather are adding support to grains but crating negative sentiment in oilseeds because of the belief farmers in the United States will ultimately switch from corn to soybean and other crops which can be sown later than corn.

Such thoughts have the potential to boost millet area because it is short season crop. Seeding of this year's canaryseed crop in Canada continues to lag the previous two years,. But at 57% complete, it is close to the recent five year average.
