Chickpeas Maintain Firm Tone

PANAMA - May 20/17 - SNS -- International kabuli chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against tight stocks in Mexico and worries about planting progress in North America.

Though seeding is underway, wet soil conditions slowed progress in parts of Saskatchewan and the U.S. Pacific Northwest.

Even so, Saskatchewan's farmers had planted over half their intended area by the middle of May, down from 78% complete at that time last year, but above the recent five year average of 44% complete.
