Chickpeas Remain Firm

PANAMA - Apr 15/17 - SNS -- The world's chickpea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by smaller than expected supplies of large caliber product in Mexico.

Production of smaller caliber chickpeas will be up significantly this year, largely because of acreage increases in the United States.

Canada also expected to see area rise this year, but high production costs and less risky alternatives have slowed expansion of the crop.
