Few Changes in Birdseeds

PANAMA - Apr 8/17 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets were little changed in seasonally light trade during the past week.

Markets are looking toward the Statistics Canada seeding intentions estimates on April 21 to get a better feel for the potential supply in North America. Markets need to wait longer for data about safflower and millet seed plantings in the United States.

Looking at the USDA seeding intentions report, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association (NSA) said, "Depending on spring weather and market conditions, producers can still change their final crop mix. If this expected reduction in oil type sunflower does happen it might start to create some unexpected opportunities as we look ahead."
