U.S. Plans Smaller Pea Crop

PANAMA - Apr 1/17 - SNS -- Much of the focus in field pea markets shifted away from India to the USDA's seedings intentions report at week's end.

India extended the exemption which allows countries such as Canada to ship agricultural commodities without first fumigating them with methyl bromide. The exemption covers shipments with a bill of lading dated on or before June 20, 2017.

Even so, the week ended unsure whether the 5% import duty on peas has come back into force. The last exemption ostensibly expired on March 31: No announcements were made during the week, leaving importers uncertain about whether or not they will now pay an import duty.
