Mixed Week In Chickpeas
PANAMA - Mar 5/17 - SNS -- Chickpea markets finished the week on a mixed note against ongoing strength in kabuli types, but weakness in desi because of this year's rebound in production in India.
Even so, Australian export shipments to the Indian subcontinent remain strong.
The country shipped over 303,000 metric tons (MT) of mostly desi type chickpeas to all destinations in January. Over 90% went to the Indian subcontinent, with India the destination for roughly two-thirds.
