Turkey's Net Pulse Imports Trend Lower

PANAMA - Feb 14/16 - SNS -- Turkey remained a net importer of pulses in 2016, with an increasing share of product brought into the country being re-exported to other countries in the region.

Total imports exceeded 467,000 metric tons (MT) because of the upward trend in lentil purchases which began in 2012, according to data published in the platinum version of STAT.

Those gains in lentil purchases were offset last year by decreased imports of field peas and chickpeas, with the result Turkey's import bill slipped from 480,000 to 467,000 MT of all pulses.
