India's Wraps Up Rabi Planting

PANAMA - Feb 12/17 - SNS -- Seeding of this year's rabi season pulse crops is virtually complete, with India's agriculture department not releasing an updated progress report during the past week.

Land in all pulses stands at 15.97 million hectares, compared to 14.37 million last year and the recent five year average of 15.04 million.

Total area is remains shy of the record 16.19 million sown during the 2013-14 campaign. Even so, combined land in pulses for this season's kharif and rabi planting seasons has already set a new annual record, reaching 30.56 million hectares.
