Maple Syrup Production Up 70%

WASHINGTON - Jan 10/14 - SNS -- The 2013 United States maple syrup production totaled 3.25 million gallons, up 70% from last year, according to the USDA's final production estimates for the 2013 crop.

The number of taps is estimated at 10.6 million, 8% above the 2012 total of 9.77 million. Yield per tap is estimated at 0.308 gallon, up 58% from the previous season. All States showed an increase in production from 2012.
