Peas Largely Unchanged

PANAMA - May 26/23 - SNS -- North American field pea markets were largely unchanged on the week reflecting good balance between supplies available from growers and the short term needs of processors and exporters.

Excellent progress has been made seeding this years crops, with an estimated 81% of the Canadian crop in the ground as the week got underway, compared to 64% in the United States.

Normally, seeding advances more rapidly in Canada than in the U.S., though crops are typically planted more quickly in the U.S. Pacific Northwest than other regions. As a result, new crop peas tend to be available from the United States before initial harvest activity in western Canada.
