Peas Ease But Problems Rising

PANAMA - May 28/21 - SNS -- International field pea markets eased during the past week, partly influenced by recent rains in Alberta and Saskatchewan which improved prospects for proper germination and initial plant development.

The key producing areas in the United States remain unusually dry, which has left most processors and exporters in that country pessimistic about yield prospects. The situation is similar in several other countries, maintaining the current international weather market.

Continued growth in pea consumption in both food and feed markets has created demand optimism for the coming season, but this has yet to translate into significant increases in forward sales activity.
