Birdseeds Unshaken By Recent Rains

PANAMA - May 28/21 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredients maintained their recent firm tone through the past week with concerns about potential seeded area and yields in part of the growing area continuing to influence spot and new crop markets.

Seeding of Canada's canaryseed crop is entering its final stages and recent rainfall events in Saskatchewan has ended most doubts about germination and initial plant establishment. White proso millet and confection sunflower markets were largely unchanged on the week at the grower level, though there was modest easing in inter dealer markets as processors and elevators try to avoid accumulating old crop inventories.
