Demand Continues to Lift Beans

PANAMA - May 21/21 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets ended the week on a strong note against ongoing demand from Mexico and expectations Brazil will need to boost imports this year because of a reduced harvest forecast.

As a result, the dry edible bean price index for the United States advanced 1.3 points on the week to finish at 96.9, for its fifth week over week advances.

At the same time, the global pulse price index rose 1.4 points to close at 92.5 while the Canadian index recorded a 2.1 point gain to finish at 94.7 points.
