Bean Seeding 23% Complete

WASHINGTON - May 18/21 - SNS -- Seeding of dry edible bean and chickpea crops in the United States is roughly 23%, compared to 13% at this time last year and the recent five year average of 17%.

Conditions across much of the growing area were dry during the past week, with processors and exporters worried about yield prospects in North Dakota, Montana, and other key producing states.

No progress has been reported in Michigan, but this is normal. Farmers there typically start planting beans later than other their counterparts in other states.
