India And Drought Support Beans

PANAMA - May 14/21 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a firm note, with exporters of mung, pigeon peas and black matpe beans excited to see India remove quantity limits on imports.

The change applies to product shipped with bills of lading dated before October 31. Mung bean exporters in Argentina, Australia and origins in Asia were pleased to see export opportunities increase.

Pressure has been building on the Indian government to remove import restrictions and reduce duties on all pulses to help combat food price inflation and relieve supply disruptions caused by the current outbreak of COVID-19 coronavirus infections in the country.
