Few Changes in Chickpeas
PANAMA - May 7/21 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were little changed during the past week, with limited grower participation in markets adding strength in Australia and the United States.
Canadian markets were moderately surprised by the stocks in all positions report, which said there were 366,000 metric tons (MT) on hand as of March 31, up from 307,000 last year and more than double the recent five year average of 149,400 MT.
Stocks on farms were estimated at 332,000 MT, up from 286,000 last year; while commercial inventories were pegged at 34,000 MT, compared to 21,000 last year.
