Continued Strength In Beans, Pulses

PANAMA - May 7/21 - SNS -- International pulse and dry edible bean markets continued to strengthen during the past week in the face of tight stocks and limited grower selling relative to the short terms needs of processors and exporters.

As a result, the dry edible bean price index for the United States advanced 0.8 points on the week to finish at 90.4, the first time it has been above 90 points since August.

At the same time, the global pulse price index rose 0.9 points to close at 89.4 while the Canadian index managed a 1.7 point gain to finish at 91 points.
