Mustard Holds Firm Tone
VANCOUVER - Apr 9/21 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets finished the week's trading on a generally firmer note, with values for oriental and brown posting further gains in spot shipping positions.
The first survey based look at what is available on Canadian farms will be released on May 7, while the Canadian seeding intentions report is due on April 27. Neither breaks down numbers by class, but market performance suggests farmers are becoming reluctant sellers of product remaining in their bins.
Dry conditions in parts of the North American growing area and competition for land use between crops are adding to a certain level of anxiety to what the numbers will reveal.
