Mixed Week In Chickpeas
PANAMA - Mar 19/21 - SNS -- Global chickpea markets closed the week's trading on a mixed note, with Canadian and Australian markets closing with a firmer undertone while Mexico was slightly easier in advance of this year's harvest and increased availability of new crop product from India.
Pakistan continued to show buying interest during the past week, focusing on desi chickpeas from Australia and small caliber kabuli chickpeas from other origins.
There is no firm data on this year's production levels in Pakistan, but drought conditions in several growing areas earlier in the year resulted in lower average yields.
