General Strength in Mustard

PANAMA - Feb 19/21 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets maintained their firm tone through the past week in both spot and new crop shipping positions as supplies relative to the needs of processors and exporters remain tight.

Most of the strength was seen in spot yellow markets, lifting both average and highest spot values to a premium to new crop. Average spot bids were only CDN 0.25 cents per pound higher than new crop, while the best bids seen at week's end were one cent higher in fall shipping positions.

By contrast, average new crop bids for No 1 Canada brown jumped to a CDN 1.8 cent per pound premium to the average spot bid, while the upper end of the bid range was the same for both positions.
