Birdseeds Close With Firm Tone

PANAMA - Jun 26/20 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets maintained their relatively firm tone through the past week, with market participants covering short terms needs in front of the coming harvest.

Canadian canaryseed and white proso millet markets in the United States were mostly unchanged, but sunflower markets strengthened in spot shipping positions.

Commenting on conditions, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association noted the "market is heating up in the Dakotas as birdfood and crushers compete for remaining old crop seed stocks."

Over the past two weeks this saw prices at some locations advance U.S. up to $2.50 per 100 pounds (cwt). with prices trading at $22.50-$24.25 in North Dakota and upwards of $25.00 in South Dakota.
