MELBOURNE - Jun 2/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front approaching from the southwest will cross Bass Strait tonight and early Wednesday. A high pressure system will move from the Bight towards Victoria on Wednesday, crossing the State on Thursday. The high pressure system will stall over the northeast of the State on Friday, as a cold front crosses the Bight and approaches the State's southwest by Friday night. The cold front will slip to the southeast of Victoria during Saturday as a new high pressure system strengthens in the Bight. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers across southern and mountain areas, tending scattered across the east central ranges. Possible snow about the Alpine peaks. Moderate west to southwesterly winds, locally fresh along the coast.Wednesday 3 JunePatchy morning fog in the northeast. Isolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting eastwards and mostly clearing during the day. Brief snow at first above 1500m. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at first in the far southeast.Thursday 4 JunePatchy morning fog inland, and areas of frost in the northeast. A cool and mostly sunny day with light winds.Friday 5 JuneMorning fog and frost patches, widespread in the north and east. A cool and mostly sunny day with isolated showers developing about the South West and South Gippsland coasts during the late afternoon and evening. Generally light winds.Saturday 6 JuneMorning fog and frost patches, mainly in the north and east. Isolated showers over the southwest at first, extending to remaining southern and mountain areas during the day and falling as snow above 1200m.
