U.S. Dry Bean Seeding Almost Half Done

WASHINGTON - Jun 1/20 - SNS -- Seeding of this year's dry edible bean and chickpea crops neared the halfway point during the past week, judging from the latest state level crop progress reports.

Farmers in Michigan are reporting initial seeding progress. This state normally lags other states, with the results markets are not overly concerned with the limited progress.

North Dakota is the most important producing region and farmers there report doubling seeded area to 46% in the ground, well below the 65% sown by this time last year and the recent five year average of 72%.
