MELBOURNE - Jun 1/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over will contract to eastern parts of the State tonight as an associated low pressure system moves across eastern Bass Strait. Another weaker front crossing the Southern Ocean will clip the far south later Tuesday. A high pressure system will move from the Bight towards Victoria on Wednesday, crossing the State on Thursday. The high pressure system will stall over the northeast of the State on Friday, as a cold front crosses the Bight and approaches the State's southwest by Friday night. Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers across central and eastern areas, contracting to the east tonight, and remaining isolated over much of Gippsland. Isolated showers about the southwest coast. Thunderstorms possible in the far east. Small hail possible with showers across the north. Snow showers down to 1200 metres. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting fresh to strong and southwesterly over western and central districts. Locally squally winds across the Central district, easing at night.Tuesday 2 JuneScattered showers on and south of the ranges. Isolated showers to the north but generally dry in the northwest. Snow showers above 1400 metres becoming confined to the Alpine peaks during the day. Cool with moderate west to southwesterly winds, locally fresh along the coast.Wednesday 3 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting eastwards and mostly clearing during the day. Brief snow at first on the Alpine peaks. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds, fresh at first in the far southeast.Thursday 4 JuneMorning fog patches. Widespread morning frost in the north and east. A cool and mostly sunny day with light winds.Friday 5 JuneMorning fog and frost patches, widespread in the north and east. A cool and mostly sunny day with isolated showers developing in the southwest during the afternoon, extending to the central coast at night.
