Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 31/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front approaching western Victoria tonight will cross the State on Monday as an associated low pressure system moves eastwards across Bass Strait. Another weaker front crossing the Southern Ocean will clip the far south later Tuesday. A high pressure system will become established over the State during Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers mainly about the eastern ranges with isolated showers elsewhere. Showers falling as snow at times about the alpine peaks. Mainly dry in the far northwest and East Gippsland. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds, stronger over elevated areas.Monday 1 JuneWidespread showers over the southwest and about the eastern ranges, scattered showers elsewhere though generally isolated in the far northwest and East Gippsland. Chance of thunderstorms during the day, with small hail and gusty winds possible with showers and storms. Snow showers above 1500 metres initially, with snow level dropping to 1000 in the afternoon. Showers easing in the West in the evening. A cold day. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting moderate to fresh west to southwesterly. Strong gusts at times along the coast and over elevated parts.Tuesday 2 JuneScattered showers on and south of the ranges. Isolated showers to the north but generally dry in the northwest. Brief snow above 1200 metres becoming confined to the Alpine peaks during the day. Cool with moderate west to southwest winds locally fresh along the coast.Wednesday 3 JuneIsolated showers on and south of the ranges contracting eastwards and mostly clearing during the day. Brief snow at first on the Alpine peaks. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds fresh at first in the far southeast.Thursday 4 JuneMorning fog and frost more widespread in the northeast. Isolated showers possible in the far east and about the exposed coast. A cool and mostly sunny day with light winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
