Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - May 31/20 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move across the west and south late Sunday and early Monday. A high pressure system will develop over the Bight during Tuesday, then move slowly southeastwards.
Forecast for the rest of SundayAreas of morning fog about western slopes of ranges. Cool to cold with a slight chance of showers near the west coast and about the southern agricultural area, extending over the northern agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts late afternoon and evening, and increasing to a high to very high chance of showers about the southern agricultural area in the evening. Possible gusty thunderstorms developing over western and central parts of the southern agricultural area late afternoon and evening. Mainly moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the south from late afternoon.Monday 1 JuneA high to very high chance of showers over the agricultural area grading to a slight to medium chance of showers over the far south of the pastoral districts, easing during the day. Possible early morning thunderstorms near the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Murraylands district. Cool to cold with moderate northwest to southwesterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty about agricultural areas and eastern districts during the morning and early afternoon.Tuesday 2 JuneA slight to medium chance of showers about the agricultural areas and West Coast district, grading to a high chance about the southern agricultural area. Generally cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 3 June
A slight to medium chance of showers about the southern agricultural area and near the west coast. Possible early fog about central and northern Eyre Peninsula. Cool with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, tending east to northeasterly at times in the west.
Cumulative rainfall totals to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 8 mm in the far south of the pastoral districts and northern agricultural area, 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 15 to 25 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges, western Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast. Isolated falls up to 35 mm are possible over the Mt Lofty Ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected elsewhere, but no rainfall is expected northeast of about Broken Hill to Leigh Creek to Ernabella/Pukatja.
Thursday until SaturdayA slight to medium chance of showers about southern coasts on Thursday, extending over the agricultural area on Friday and Saturday and increasing about the southern agricultural area. Early frost patches about the southeast on Thursday, then over inland parts on Friday and Saturday. Cool days with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Sunday.Product IDS10033

This will occur between 17:00 and 21:00 (ACDT).
Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
All South Australian forecast and warning services will continue to be monitored and updated through back up arrangements.
