WASHINGTON - May 26/20 - SNS -- Planting of this year's dry edible bean and chickpea crop is 26% complete in the United States, judging from the latest state level crop progress reports.

Farmers in Michigan and Idaho were slowed down during the past week by rainy conditions, though relatively good progress was made in other states.

North Dakota is the most important producing region and farmers there report 23% of the crop is in the ground, well below the recent five year average of 48% complete by this time of year.
