Markets A Little Uneasy About Demand

PANAMA - May 18/20 - SNS -- Seeding of this year's field pea crop in Canada is lagging behind last year, with the most progress being made in Alberta, while only nominal areas have been sown in Manitoba.

Overall, an estimated 36% of Canada's intended field pea was in the ground last week, compared to 53% at the same time last year. Significant progress is expected in parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba this week.

Forecast weather conditions for the week are mixed, with the western half of Saskatchewan expecting showers and rains, while the eastern third could see above normal temperatures and dry days. Manitoba is also expected to see warm and dry days, which should allow most farmers to enter fields.
