Turkey's Lentil Exports Start On Firm Note

PANAMA - Apr 30/20 - SNS -- At this point in the current calendar year on a a firmer tone, with lentil shipments from Turkey recorded modestgains, advancing compared to the previous month in February, judging from available data from Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT).

Total shipments throughout the month amounted to 34,883 metric tons (MT), up 2% from the previous month's total of 34,364. So far export sales have reached 69,248 MT, up from 50,422 during the previous calendar year.

The latest trade data revealed Sudan was number one consumer, buying 8,415 MT. Iraq was the second most important destination taking 5,302 MT, followed by Egypt at 3,091 MT.
