Chickpeas Spreads Widen
PANAMA - Apr 24/20 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were unchanged to firmer as spreads between large and medium caliber kabulis widened on expectations of shortages of large caliber product.
Available supplies of good quality large caliber chickpeas from India are expected to be limited, while Mexico is expecting production to remain small relative the prospective demand.
Seeded area for chickpeas is down in the United States. Statistics Canada did not release this year's seeding intentions report during the past week, but area is also expected to be down sharply in that country because growers are holding significant inventories.
