Demand Helps Lentils Remain Firm
PANAMA - Jan 19/20 - SNS -- North American lentil markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, with some processors and exporters needing to fill in short positions.
Canadian markets are also somewhat preoccupied by the winter farm meeting season, with growers testing the waters for price direction through the balance of the season as well as new crop prospects.
Bulk and container exports remain above last year's levels, giving markets fundamental support from the demand side. Exports and domestic demand is expected to be up over last year.
