Chickpea Imports By India Continue Solid Performance

PANAMA - Dec 9/19 - SNS -- At this point in the current calendar year are keeping up their stronger trend, with chickpea imports by India were up significantly, rising compared to the previous month in July, according to the most recent statistics from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics.

Total imports for the month reached 35,669 metric tons (MT), up 35% from the previous month's total of 26,516. So far imports have amounted to 184,017 MT, up from 101,308 during the last calendar year.

Recent movement statistics showed Turkey was largest supplier, selling 12,476 MT in the month. Russia was the second most important exporter selling 7,376 MT, followed by Sudan at 5,122 MT.
