Significant Canaryseed Revisions
PANAMA - Dec 6/19 - SNS -- Statistics Canada revised this year's canaryseed area upward in its final crop report for the year, pegged total area at 243,400 acres, compared to its initial estimate only 188,000 acres was sown to the crop.
The upward revision brings seeded area more in line with the thinking of processors and exporters, who felt a minimum of 228,000 acres was sown.
Average yields are down from last year, with the result production was pegged at 124,700 metric tons (MT), compared to 157,600 in 2018.
