Mustard Unaffected by Crop Report

PANAMA - Dec 6/19 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets were largely unchanged on the week, helped by confirmation this year's crop in Canada is down enough for residual stocks to decline across the remainder of the 2019-20 marketing year.

Statistics Canada pegged the harvest at 134,600 metric tons (MT) from 398,600 acres, down from last year's production of 173,600 MT from 503,8000 acres.

This maintained a trend which has been seen since 2014 when the country harvest 199,000 MT from 502,500 acres. In 2015 area sank to just 348,000 acres, rebounded to 511,200 in 2016, dropped to 387,000 acres the following year and again rebounded to last year.
