Chinese Demand Helps Peas
PANAMA - Nov 25/19 - SNS -- Field pea markets maintained their firm tone through the past week against relatively strong export movement.
In Canada, the quantity of peas remaining on farms remains above this time last year, but the proportion farmers have sold is higher. By the third week of November, growers had delivered 32% of all peas available on their farms to the bulk handling system, compared to 29% by the same time last year.
Deliveries into seed processing plants, the fractionation or livestock feed industry are not tracked. But, the inference is that even if deliveries by growers to those outlets is similar to last year, overall sales by growers should be higher on a percentage basis.
