India's Rabi Plantings Limp Forward

PANAMA - Nov 25/19 - SNS -- Seeding of this year's rabi season pulse crops in India advanced at an average pace last week, but remains well below what had been sown by this time last year.

Farmers in parts of the country are being hampered by two things; kharif season harvest delays of up to a month and unusually wet weather which has made it difficult to enter fields.

There is a believe the tur or pigeon pea crop is benefitting from recent conditions, while other classes of beans grown in the kharif season are suffering yield and quality losses.
