Chickpea Imports By India Maintain Strong Tone

PANAMA - Nov 13/19 - SNS -- At this point in the calendar year continued a stronger performance, with chickpea imports by India showed modest gains, advancing compared to the previous month in April, according to available data from Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence & Statistics.

Imports for the month totalled 24,602 metric tons (MT), up from 21,237 MT the previous month. This boosted imports so far during the calendar year to 96,523, up 3% last year.

For the month, Myanmar was the largest export origin, supplying 5,685 MT. Russia was the second most important export origin supplying 5,452 MT, followed by Tanzania at 4,025 MT.
