Bean Harvest 68% Complete

WASHINGTON - Oct 22/19 - SNS -- This year's dry edible bean and chickpea harvest is now two thirds complete in the United States, judging from state level crop updates from the USDA's NASS.

Drier conditions in many areas during the past week allowed the harvest to advance to 68% complete, compared to 60% last week and the recent five year average of 93% in the bin.

Farmers in North Dakota have now harvested 61% of this year's crop, compared to 96% last year. Farmers in Michigan are now reporting 68% of the state's bean crop is now in the bin, compared to 81% last year. Growers in Minnesota have now harvested 68% of the bean crop, well behind the recent average of 99% in the bin my the third week of October.
