Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 19/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards over the next few days to be centred over the Tasman Sea by Tuesday afternoon. A trough of low pressure will move over the far west on Wednesday then over the remainder of the west and the south on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayA slight chance of showers over the southern coasts and South East districts. A possible shower or thunderstorm in the far northwest late this afternoon and evening. Possible areas of raised dust in the north of the North East Pastoral district during the afternoon and evening. Cool in the south grading to warm in the north and west. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds tending south to southeasterly in the west.Sunday 20 OctoberEarly frost patches over parts of the Mid North, Flinders and Eyre Peninsula districts. A chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the far northwest. Cool in the southeast, grading to warm in the far north and far west. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly in the far west.Monday 21 OctoberPossible early frost about parts of the Mid North, Murraylands and Upper South East districts. Possible early fog patches over parts of the agricultural and Kangaroo Island. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Mild near southern coasts grading to warm inland and hot in the far west.Tuesday 22 OctoberPossible early fog patches about the South East, then mostly fine across the State apart from a possible thunderstorm near the western border during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 23 October
A chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the far west, otherwise dry. Warm to hot. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a moderate southerly change in the far west later in the day.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Wednesday are expected to be negligible, possibly reaching 1 to 3 mm with isolated thunderstorms in the west.
Thursday until SaturdayHot and dry with freshening northerly winds ahead of a cooler, moderate to fresh southerly change bringing a chance of showers to southern agricultural areas.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033

BoM is upgrading its IT systems in South Australia on Tuesday 5 December 2017.
This will occur between 17:00 and 21:00 (ACDT).
Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
All South Australian forecast and warning services will continue to be monitored and updated through back up arrangements.
