Mustard Market Unchanged on Week

PANAMA - Oct 18/19 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets finished the week's trading mostly unchanged against limited availability of new crop product and a general absence of short covering by processors and exporters.

Farmers made relatively good progress harvesting this year's crop in Canada, with the percentage in the bin jumping from 58% to 79% as of the middle of October. This is similar to last year, but 10 points behind the recent five year average.

Markets continue to have concerns about the quality of the harvest because a significant portion of the crop experienced killing frost events which would have prevented affected seeds from continuing to mature.
