MELBOURNE - Oct 18/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front crossing the State this evening will be followed by a cold unstable west to southwesterly airflow on Saturday as the next high pressure system develops over the Bight. The high is forecast to be located near Adelaide by Sunday night, over Bass Strait Monday night and will become centred over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers spreading eastwards across southern and mountain areas tonight as fresh northwesterly winds shift cooler westerly. Few if any showers penetrating north of the ranges. Areas of raised dust possible over the northwest this evening.Saturday 19 OctoberScattered showers over southern and mountain areas, becoming isolated in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms and small hail across the south, clearing to the east at night. Snow level lowering to 900 metres during the morning. Only isolated showers expected over the north with some raised dust possible over the northwest. A cool to cold day with moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong at times about the coast.Fire Danger - Very high in the Mallee. Low to moderate elsewhere.Sunday 20 OctoberPartly cloudy with isolated showers over southern and mountain areas. Dry and mostly sunny across the north. Isolated morning frosts in the north, then a cool day with moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times about the coast.Monday 21 OctoberIsolated morning frosts over the north. Generally mild and partly cloudy across the south with isolated morning drizzle over west Gippsland. Dry, sunny and mild to warm across the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.Tuesday 22 OctoberA dry and mostly sunny day.
