Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Oct 18/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front about the South East will move to the eastern States this evening. A new high will move in south of the Bight on Sunday and then move slowly eastwards. A trough of low pressure will move over the far west on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayA slight chance of showers about the southern agricultural area, increasing to a medium to high chance near southern coasts, about Mount Lofty Ranges and the South East districts. A slight chance of showers and possible thunderstorms in the far northwest. Areas of raised dust east of the ranges during the afternoon. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Light and variable winds, tending fresh to strong northwesterly about southern coasts and becoming fresh and gusty northwest to westerly across the agricultural area during the morning. A cooler, moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change, reaching a line near Giles to Yunta late evening.Saturday 19 OctoberA slight chance of showers over the southern agricultural area, the far southwest of the Flinders district and the south of the Murraylands, contracting to southern coasts and the South East districts by afternoon. A medium to high chance of showers about the Lower South East during the morning with possible small hail. A possible dry thunderstorm in the far northwest. Cool in the south grading to warm in the north and west. Moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at first about the Lower South East coast, tending south to southeasterly in the west.Sunday 20 OctoberEarly frost patches over parts of the Mid North, Flinders and Eyre Peninsula districts. A possible dry thunderstorm in the far northwest. Cool in the southeast, grading to warm in the far north and far west. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds, tending northeasterly in the far west.Monday 21 OctoberPossible early frost about parts of the Murraylands and Upper South East districts. Early fog patches about the South East districts. Moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Mild near southern coasts grading to warm inland and hot in the far west.Tuesday 22 October
Possible early fog patches about the Lower South East, then mostly fine across the State apart from a possible dry thunderstorm in the far west during the afternoon. Warm to hot with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals until midnight Tuesday are expected to be less than 1 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 1 to 3 mm about the Lower South East.
Wednesday until FridayMostly dry with a possible dry thunderstorm in the far west on Wednesday, otherwise hot with northeast to northerly winds in the east with a cooler, moderate to fresh southerly change in the far west on Wednesday gradually extending across the State by Friday. A slight to medium chance of showers developing about the agricultural area on Thursday and Friday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033

Within this 4-hour window there will be an outage between 2.5 and 3.0 hours affecting observations from Automatic Weather Stations.
