MELBOURNE - Oct 18/19 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will enter the southwest of the state Friday evening, and move east through most districts during Saturday before clearing the far northeast of the state early Sunday. In the wake of the front, a high pressure system near the Bight will extend a ridge across New South Wales. This high will promote generally dry, clear conditions and increasing warmth until the next cold front arrives late next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayDry and clear. Possible raised dust in the far west. Westerly winds, fresh in the southwest, tending fresh east to to northeasterly along the coast.Saturday 19 OctoberThe chance of a shower or thunderstorm about the southeast, central west and far north coast, most likely about the south coast. A snow shower or two about the Alps above 1300 metres. Dry and mostly sunny elsewhere. Areas of raised dust in the west. Daytime temperatures below average in the southwest tending above average in the northeast. Fresh to strong west to southwesterly winds, tending southerly along the south coast and moderate north to northeasterly along the north coast.Fire Danger - Very High: Greater Sydney, Greater Hunter, Northern Slopes, North Western, New England, Central Ranges, North Coast and Far North Coast fire areas.Sunday 20 OctoberDry and mostly sunny, apart from the slight chance of shower about the Mid North Coast. Morning frost patches over the southern and central ranges and adjacent slopes. Daytime temperatures mostly below average. South to southwesterly winds, tending southeasterly along the northern and central coasts.Monday 21 OctoberDry and mostly sunny. Daytime temperatures near or slightly above average, tending below average along the north coast. South to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 22 OctoberDry and mostly sunny, apart from the slight chance of a shower about the northern coastal fringe. Daytime temperatures, most notably over the southern inland, tending below average along the north coast.
