Lentils Fret About India

PANAMA - Oct 11/19 - SNS -- International lentil markets are paying close attention to developments with this summer's kharif season pulse harvest.

While the strong finish to the monsoon improves yield prospects for the coming rabi season crops, including chickpeas and red lentils, it appears to be hurting yields for kharif crops.

The monsoon was late arriving, with the result crops were initially sown in what are deemed drought like conditions in India. This slowed the development of early sown pulses, while most farmers delayed seeding this year's crops.
